How to Insert/Edit Flash

I am going to try and explain how to add flash images to your site.  Before you can put flash images on your website you must first have flash images on your home computer.  Kevin has suggested that a file be put on your desktop, and all your flash images can be easily accessed.

On the editor tool bar you will see what looks like a tennis ball, this is the button for inserting and editing flash images When you click on the button it will take you to the screen shown below.  Now click  on the browse server button.

It will take you to the screen below.  Be patient, sometimes it takes quite a few seconds for it to bring up the next screen, this is also true for the next two screens we will be going to.

The first time you get to this screen you will need to create a new folder to hold your flash images, you can use your own name but if you want to use something else use a name you will remember because the more members e-verge gets the more files there will be in here.  Once you have created your personal folder, and it's been a while since I did so I'm not sure if it opens your folder when you get done, but if it doesn't just locate your folder in the list, and click on it.  Again, be patient, if you can see a folder with an arrow in it the server is taking you to your folder, it takes a few seconds for it to load the page, but it will eventually open this page.

The list in the right screen is of all the flash images I have uploaded to the server.  Please notice how long the list is already, and you can't even see the entire list.  Since I started this file I have learned that I can also put folders inside my folder, so let me suggest that before you start uploading flash images put in a few folders.  For example you might want a folder labeled PEOPLE, or SCENERY, or you may want to have a folder indicating how wide the flash images are - 160 PIXELS, or 130 PIXELS, or the width of whatever location you will be putting your flash images in.  You can even put folders in the folders.  It is easier to look through a list of a few dozen folders, than it is to look through a list of a few thousand flash images.

Now click on the browse button, and it will take you to the folder on your computer where you have placed you flash images.

This is a file on your computer(of course the one pictured is a file on my computer).  Just select the flash image you want to add to the server, and click open.  Currently you have to do one flash image at a time, and I don't know if Kevin plans on upgrading it so you can do a whole file at a time or not, but I hope so.

Now you're back at your file on the server.

Your file will appear in the space next to the button marked Browse.  Click on the Upload, and the screen will become empty inside the server box, and then it will come back with your flash image file on the server.  It is best to load several flash images on the server while you are in your file, unless you like waiting for pages to load.

Once you have your flash images loaded on the server click on the one you want to use.  It will immediatly take you to this screen.

If the flash image in the preview box is the one you want just click OK.  If not click the browse button and try again.

If you will also notice the area to the left of the flash image.  This is the size of your flash image, and if you want to make it bigger or smaller propotionatly you can adjust it here.

Once you get your flash images on your page you can do the same as with text, and make it be left, right, or center justified.

And that is how you get your flash images on your web page using the Insert/Edit flash image Button.
