Learning to use the Source Function

How to use the

Source Function

I like to start with the source button, before I do anything on the page.

If you click on the button, it will change the text box to the html mode.  If there is nothing there that's good, you can just click on the source button again, and it will change back to the plain text mode.  If there is something there you need to delete it.

There are several ways to delete everything on a page, but the easiest is to hold the Ctrl and the A key down at the same time. This is called a hot key, and there are severl hot keys on your keyboard.  Anytime I use a hot key, I always hold the Ctrl key down slightly before any other key, otherwise I might type the letter instead of getting the function I want.

Once you have everything selected hit delete.  Now you can click on the source button and know that you are starting with a clean page.  If you start typing and the text box looks like the example above you need to delete everything then click on the source button, either you do like I do sometimes, and forget to click on it before you start, or your click may have missed its mark.

The source button can be useful if you have a site that only takes html.  You can put your text in the sitedesignseo text box, and when you are done just click on the source button, and it will give you the html version.  Just select all, copy (the hot keys for copy are Ctrl and C) and then paste (Ctrl +V) it where you need it.
